Supporting the reunification of parents with their children.
Family Reunification Therapy is a therapeutic service that is different from supervised contact. While supervised contact focuses on monitoring visits to ensure safety, reunification therapy is a structured therapeutic process designed to help repair and rebuild a parent–child relationship where connection has become strained, disrupted or lost.
This service supports children to safely and meaningfully re-establish a relationship with a parent, with all work guided by the child’s emotional needs, comfort and readiness. Sessions are facilitated by a qualified therapist and focus on emotional safety, trust-building and gradual reconnection, rather than simply observing contact.
Reunification therapy progresses slowly and intentionally, at a pace that feels right for the child. The process may include individual therapeutic support, joint sessions, or carefully planned contact, depending on the child’s presentation and therapeutic goals.
At any stage, the process will pause or cease if the child does not wish to continue, or if there are indicators of distress, overwhelm or trauma response. The child’s safety, voice and wellbeing remain the highest priority throughout the reunification process..
